Critics Consensus

Afflicted with extensive re-editing and re-writing, this sex comedy feels confusingly choppy. Also, the main characters are so wealthy and privileged that it's difficult to feel sympathy for their problems.

Nell Minow Common Sense Media Enjoyable but ultimately mystifying. Rated: 2/5 Dec 29, 2010 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Despite what you may have heard, the long delayed (and reported $90 million) Town & Country is not the train wreck it has been made out to be. Kyle M An actual picture for just the wealth seeing their reflections in satirical authentic portrayal, while other perceptions can confirm how pettily pessimistic and frivolously aimless, as well as blandly intolerable, this disastrously-produced "comedy" turned out to be into nothingness. (C-) Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/05/24 Full Review TX1Wolf This movie seemed to have a decent premise and seemed to be building up to something, but just went nowhere. It was confused and rambling and very anticliamtic. Basically, it was hugely disappointing. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/04/23 Full Review Audience Member I won’t be super super harsh ….. but it wasn’t good 1.9 Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/19/23 Full Review steve d No one is likable and no jokes land, besides that it is great. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review jordan m I wanted to like this movie because of its bad reception and because I generally like Warren Beatty, but man, the actual screenplay made it hard to do so. None of the characters were even slightly sympathetic, the main character that we're meant to feel sorry for continuously cheated on his wife and very little of the comedy induced any actual laughs. It was cool to see Beatty & Goldie as old people prior to their respective retirements, and Keaton did very well in her role, and I would mention that Charlton getting the Razzie win seems cruel since his part was so minor, but the movie they all actually appeared in was far beneath each of them. That said, the driving force behind the movie was just a fantastic film score/soundtrack, as even before much character exposition had been had there was a mischievous feel to the music that just matched the plot perfectly, and really it only got better from there. Truly fantastic. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review william s Oh these poor pampered rich jerks is all I take from this lame dramedy.
