Tracey sits traumatized on a bus, scanning the streets for her lost younger brother, Sonny. Impressionistic flashbacks reveal the events that brought her to this point: Her severely dysfunctional parents barely register her existence except with hostility, while her psychiatrist is more a hindrance to her mental health than a source of support. Her only source of comfort is her classmate Billy Zero. Unfortunately, their relationship is pure fantasy.

Noel Murray AV Club Bruce McDonald's adaptation of Maureen Medved's stream-of-consciousness teen novel The Tracey Fragments turns the screen into an ever-shifting mosaic, with anywhere from two to 20 separate images appearing at the same time. There isn't a person alive who hasn't felt like the world was falling apart around them, and it is here that we can truly empathize with Tracey. Rated: 9/10 Mar 11, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

william k Experimental psycho-drama may irritate with its splitscreen and multi-fractured narrative, but fascinates with its audacity and Page's excellent performance. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review steve d Elliot Page is fantastic. The story is confusing but it is meant to. Well made adaption that captures the feeling of the book. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the most underrated movies of the past 30 years, The Tracey Fragments captivated me for essentially the entire runtime. The first 10-ish minutes of this movie were a little slow, but after that, I was enthralled. The movie uses a split-screen technique that at first threw me off, but I got used to it and eventually liked it. This is just another example of how Ellen Page is the best actress of her generation, and it isn't close. She has to carry this movie as she is in every single scene, and she does. It is inredible what she does with a movie that demands so much of her, especially considering how young she is in this movie. This is an incredibly interesting and thought-provoking movie, and deserves to be seen by everyone. I highly recommend. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Not worth anyone's time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/13/18 Full Review Audience Member If you have complex PTSD this is a movie you want to see. I think the movie being all fragmented reflects exactly how many people experience the PTSD and how they start to work through it. However this is not a feel-good movie. Perhaps that was why other people gave it lower ratings Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Very unique and disturbing. A bit sloppy, but the inventiveness and unnerving nature makes up for it in my opinion. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
