paul d An odd and frustrating movie. It has a good story behind it, and a clever and more interesting film could have been made from it, but it's a clumsy screenplay. Among other problems, it insists on portraying the two male leads cartoonishly, with Frederic March as the confident and magically successful playboy and especially Ralph Bellamy as a dull-witted straight arrow. Joan Bennett is more straightforward and believable. Despite having to overcome this heavy script, March's considerable acting talents are fully on display. The newsreel /travelogue /world tour must have pleased audiences mightily in 1938 and is a reminder of how much the world has developed since then ! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Tom M Perfect mix of drama, humour and romance. March and Bennett are very good and Sothern is great in support. Poor Bellamy has to play the moron yet again. Hedy Lamarr was the most beautiful actress in Hollywood in the late 30's and 40's. When Bennett becomes a brunette, her resemblance to Lamarr is uncanny. Stunning ! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/05/20 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
