John DeFore Hollywood Reporter Del Monte offers a warm portrait of a thoroughly winning subject. Nov 6, 2017 Full Review Asher Luberto Film Inquiry Michael Del Monte's mirthful documentary carries an edifying weight that few films can muscle. Feb 18, 2019 Full Review Alan Scherstuhl Miami New Times Overall, though, Del Monte has crafted a warm portrait of the birth of a woman from a man who found that he had even more strength than he ever realized. Oct 22, 2018 Full Review Raquel Stecher Quelle Movies an important LGBTQ documentary Oct 19, 2018 Full Review Karen Gordon Original Cin Transformer has the kind of hook that practically invites an exploitative approach -- "Alpha-male, girly-girl" to quote Kroc. But Del Monte's straightforward observational doc takes its cue from Janae's level-headed honesty. Rated: B-plus Oct 18, 2018 Full Review Kevin Ritchie NOW Toronto We only get a few glimpses of what the more mundane aspects of Janae's life are like outside the safe spaces of her home and the gym. Fortunately, she is as chatty and eminently likeable as she is ripped, and has no problem carrying the film. Rated: 3/5 Oct 18, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

DeeAnn H I was VERY impressed. I am a transgender person, and while every journey is unique, I think many can relate to Janae's path. Ultimately, and she mentions this, that doing sports in high school, joining the Marines and powerlifting were ways of trying to demonstrate to herself that she wasn't transgender. But, you can't hide from who you are forever. Everyone who believes that "grooming' is possible should watch this. We don't "become". We are from the beginning, but often it takes a while to discover that. Unfortunately people who are on the Outside looking In think that they know, and form their prejudices accordingly. This no nonesense view from the Inside puts paid to that. I just learned that she lost her middle son in 2022. I don't know the circumstances, but my wish is that they all find peace after such a sad situation. As Rick Nelson said in Garden Party: " You see, ya can't please everyone, so ya got to please yourself" Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/21/23 Full Review Nhut Aaa H I like so much of this movie's action scenes that made me goosebumps from the begining to end such as like final battle team up Maximal & Autobot vs Scourge; Optimus final confront vs Unicron and the way of a Optimus Prime kill last hit on enemy that is Scourge wildly, these are really highly great. And dont forget the aftercredit of appearing of G.I.Joe made audience so really surprised and hyped. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Powerful documentary of courage, strength of character and living an authentic life. And what a powerful and engaging parent the title character is -- wow. This is a MUST see and learn from movie. Thank you to everyone behind the scenes for making this available. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member I usually wouldn't watch a film like this, but Janae's story is told without any agenda. I was hooked in the first 5 minutes... Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Powerful documentary Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review john m A very intimate and insightful depiction of a lifestyle/procedure that's still highly ridiculed. We get an entire perspective on what Janae had to go through as well as her fighting to keep the unique balance of bodybuilder living with the direction she's meant for. This might be one of the most affecting docs on transgenders to have ever been released. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
