Richard Whittaker Austin Chronicle With a mournful compassion for everyone concerned, Solet delicately probes the fault lines ripped wide open that day by Marv and his bulldozer - whether those faults were there before, or his actions dug them. Rated: 3.5/5 Feb 27, 2020 Full Review John DeFore The Hollywood Reporter Tread's strongest suit is its complicated view of its subject's persecution complex - a self-righteous resentment that will be familiar to many viewers. Feb 27, 2020 Full Review Michael Rechtshaffen Los Angeles Times [D]irector Paul Solet felt the need to blanket the standard interview-and-archival footage format with dramatic reenactments... and repetitive slow motion that end up detracting from a story that was plenty sensational in its own right. Feb 26, 2020 Full Review Justin Brown Medium Popcorn It was an interesting watch but I think it could have been more viewer friendly. I wish they had explored more ways to visually showcase this wild story. Rated: 3/5 Aug 28, 2022 Full Review Brandon Collins Medium Popcorn This was an incredibly entertaining documentary even though the story sells itself. The re-enactments were effective. Rated: 4/5 Aug 28, 2022 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies “Tread” is thoroughly compelling filmmaking; a documentary just as interested in the buildup as the notorious headline-making act. Andrew F They lied about several parts. You'll have to go YouTube and find breakdowns of all the things they left out. They make it seem like he was a fanatic with no motivation, yet they lied or committed all the reasons he was against what the city good ole boys club did to him Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/26/24 Full Review R J Having lived in the area when this happened it's fascinating to learn more of the backstory, including intricate details, and gain insight into what lead up to this jaw dropping event. Even knowing what eventually happens it's like a good book that's hard to put down...well done. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/04/24 Full Review Audience Member It's a heck of a true story. Worth watching. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member The material here is not really the kind of stuff that happens everyday. It is however the kind of stuff that makes for a stellar documentary. And this production is absolutely capable to cover this material. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member A really odd documentary. On one hand you have his few friends backing up his grievances that he was wronged by a ‘good ole boy network' while on the other hand, he had numerous to chances to profit greatly off this disputed property and just decided he instead was gonna go for vengeance. It's pretty black and white that he is not a credible source and was a very bitter individual with an intensely grandiose view of himself. Very lucky no one was injured. Very odd how evenly they portrayed his side of the story is. It was not even he was 100% wrong. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member This was fairly horrifying. I vaguely remember the actual event being on the news. Such a tragedy for the residents of the town by a mad man with a monster machine. I gave the film 5 stars because the filmmaker lets us come to our own conclusions. I thought the editing was solid and the interviews added a great deal to this documentary...loved the drone shots that gave me insight to the geography of this place.
