Critics Consensus

Another claustrophobic thriller that Joel Schumacher can churn out in his sleep, Trespass is nasty and aggressive, more unpleasant than entertaining.

It gets increasingly worse as it progresses, heightened by terrible acting all around and a poor script. Go to Full Review

Starting with writer Karl Gajdusek's inane screenplay, the film is a hodgepodge of clichs that gets worse and worse as it goes along. So bad it's almost wonderful, this is one motion picture that almost needs to be seen to be believed. Go to Full Review

Cloth-eared dialogue saps the tension, while the plot twists with the likelihood of a Brett Ratner rehearsal session. Leave your disbelief at the door. Go to Full Review

A mindlessly perfunctory and progressively annoying 1A thriller that barrages you with standoffs, fake-outs, double-crosses and twists, twists, twists! Go to Full Review

As home invasion movies go, Trespass is a bad one, so bad even Cage’s usual over-the-top routine fails to eke out some entertainment value. Go to Full Review

TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch 2d Trespass is one of those thrillers that is far better than people give it credit for. It is not a perfect movie, but it is a very watchable and tense home invasion story that keeps your attention from beginning to end. What really works is how simple the story stays, allowing the suspense to build without becoming too confusing or overly complicated. The screenplay does have issues, especially in moments where it feels too tight and overworked, and there are definitely scenes that could have been written with a little more polish and restraint. Still, Nicole Kidman gives a strong performance as a woman who is more than just a victim, and Nicolas Cage brings a nervous energy that helps keep the film alive. Their performances hold the story together, and even when the writing stumbles, the movie remains engaging. It may not be a classic, but Trespass is a solid, underrated thriller worth watching. It delivers enough tension and suspense to make the ride worth taking.!too See more Justin W @RT37619642 Mar 18 Despite the incredible cast of this movie, it is one incredibly frustrating watch. The plot of this movie never evolves past the first 20 minutes and literally just repeats the same pattern for 2 hours. Terrible writing, terrible direction. This is just a bad movie. The sprinkling of film noirs and film blancs kept the movie interesting. I will say the flashbacks almost hit Ghost Of Mars levels. CT5 Worst Criminals tho. Nic Cage gave a solid performance Kidman hit her stride eventually. I personally don't get the negative reviews. Trepass walked so Uncut Gems can run. 5HM: Flashbacks, GD: The Party Bro's Rizz See more Ben G. @Ben09387 Jan 6 This is a bad movie, despite a strong cast. Security systems conveniently fail and the police just don't seem to exist. Some interesting elements to the plot, but the film is ultimately unrealistic, contrived, and frustrating to watch. See more T S @SamTCat Dec 24 Absolutely horrible - I got drawn in by Nicole Kidman and Nicolas Cage, thinking they usually make good movies. But this story was just awful, and all of them were so unlikeable. Terrible movie - possibly the worst I've seen in my life. And I'm not a spring chicken! Would give zero stars if that was an option.
