Audience Member Tsui Hark's specialty is definitely not comedy. A couple of funny scenes but really not enough for a 105 minutes long film. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Before bailing out for Hollywood, Tsui Hark once again attempts to rejuvenate that old Leslie Cheung/Anita Yuen-magic which made him lots of money in previous holiday hit The Chinese Feast, but the unstructured plot and poor execution hardly works in Tri-Star's favour. Except for Lau Ching Wan's stylish beard, the star cast doesn't bring anything exceptional to the table either, only half-hearted performances and severe mugging. The cinematography courtesy of Christopher Doyle is in quite another league of course, but disguising silliness as arthouse fare simply won't do.
