Anna King Time Out Rated: 3/5 Nov 17, 2011 Full Review David Wiegand San Francisco Chronicle The world is not quite as nicely rainbow-hued as the film wishes it were at the end, but, if nothing else, Tru Loved makes us hope all the more that it can be one day. Rated: 2/4 Oct 31, 2008 Full Review Stephen Farber The Hollywood Reporter This plodding plea for tolerance would barely pass muster as an after-school special. Oct 24, 2008 Full Review Debbie Lynn Elias Behind The Lens A beautiful story, memorable performances, an eloquent message and heartfelt humor, Tru Loved is a film that you will truly love. Nov 9, 2019 Full Review Stan Hall Oregonian The movie is crummy on several levels, yet its desire to help make the world more loving and tolerant is so pure-hearted that criticizing it seems almost mean-spirited. Nov 21, 2008 Full Review Richard Knight Windy City Times Wade's extremely low budget film is hampered by badly recorded dialogue and a script that tries to cram too many issues and characters in. Audience Member this was really great movie! i might say the only one which i`ve seen where are gay/lesbian stuff, but in somehow not disgusting way. really nice movie! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member While there were great performances by Najarra Townsend, Jake Abel, & Tye Olsen, altogether a bit of re-casting for the other parts and a re-write of the script could have made this a real contender ! As it is, it plays out like an after-school special for the 16-20 crowd. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Is it degrading for a straight woman to be a gay guy's "beard" or "Katie Holmes"? Why are people get so anti and uptight about who other people love? Roger Ebert watched the first 8 minutes of this movie and hated the awkward beginning. Any Glee fan could watch the last 8 minutes of this movie and love Jane Lynch's Sue Sylvester character beginning to take shape 2 years before Glee hit the small screens. Between start and end, this movie's awesomely intriguing plotline fails to be convincingly acted. But don't give up on it like Ebert did - it's an enjoyable watch. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Low budget film with an awesome message! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member this was really great movie! i might say the only one which i`ve seen where are gay/lesbian stuff, but in somehow not disgusting way. really nice movie! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was alright. Technically speaking it was pretty bad - especially sound wise. There were actually moments where the sound suddenly got substantially quieter because it was an outdoor scene and then they would go indoors and it was really loud again, so that was frustrating. The story was average. It was easy to watch but not something that was overly enjoyable. Random comments that have nothing to do with the actual quality of the film: Najarra is very pretty, Matthe Thompson is such a cutie, Jake Abel is a sweetheart and I want to meet someone like his character. I have no idea why Jane Lynch was in this movie (well im actually pretty sure its just because she is gay) but honestly she had like 2 lines. What did this movie teach me? Just because a guy dresses nicely and is a part of the gay-straight aliance, it doesnt mean hes gay. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews
