After an outlaw named Tom Chaney (Josh Brolin) murders her father, feisty 14-year-old farm girl Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld) hires Rooster Cogburn (Jeff Bridges), a boozy, trigger-happy lawman, to help her find Chaney and avenge her father. The bickering duo are not alone in their quest, for a Texas Ranger named LaBoeuf (Matt Damon) is also tracking Chaney for reasons of his own. Together the unlikely trio ventures into hostile territory to dispense some Old West justice.

Henry Hathaway's 1969 adaptation was highly faithful... The Coens' movie is less faithful than Hathaway's but stronger - the production, by their regular team, is formally superb - and weirder.

Os Irmãos Coen estão entre os meus 10 diretores preferidos, mas eles são, sem dúvida, a minha dupla de diretores preferida. E o que eu mais gosto no estilo deles é que seus filmes são profundamente americanos. Eles são artistas fortemente inspirados, influenciados e moldados pela cultura e história de seu país, principalmente no que diz respeito à cultura cinematográfica dos Estados Unidos, o que é extremamente claro nesse filme. Não apenas por ser um remake de um clássico de um dos maiores a mais importantes gêneros do cinema americano, bem como por realmente nos transportar para o final do século XIX, uma época de vida dura e simples, mas também no limiar da modernização. E, além dessa excelente direção, "Bravura Indômita" é marcado pelas ótimas atuaçõe de Jeff Bridges e Hailee Steinfeld, que partilham de uma química incendiária, e um exímio trabalho de figurino e produção de arte, mas, acima de tudo, pela espetacular visão de Sir Roger Deakins, que eu considero o melhor diretor de fotografia que o cinema já viu. Em suma, esse é um dos raros e melhores exemplos de um remake superior ao filme original.

Definitely one of my favorite Westerns! Jeff Bridges is fantastic as Rooster, and Matt Damon's "Labeef" are terrific characters. Great tale of seeking vengeance, with complex and contrasting characters. Steinfeld's Pepper is a great protagonist -- always cheer to see her getting the better of bargains with the shopkeepers, and riding her horse across the river.

This is a fantastic modern western. Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon gave great performances. The Coen brothers are awesome directors. The cinematography was nice. I want to see the John Wayne version. Reminded me of “Red Dead Redemption”.
