Truth or Dare is often unintentionally laughable, motivationally confused and largely inept. Go to Full Review

Essentially a softcore variation on torture porn. Just say no. Go to Full Review

A strong horror mystery that skirts the edge of torture porn but never quite resorts to such exploitative violence... Go to Full Review

Claudio C Nov 3 Truth or Dare (2012) Unlikable Characters (12,033 – 02 Nov 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) During a party where the youths Chris (Jack Gordon) and Paul (Liam Boyle) are using drugs provided by the drug dealer Luke (Alexander Vlahos) and booze, the quiet Felix (Tom Kane) arrives and hits on Chris’ girlfriend Gemma (Florence Hall). However, she tells him that she likes him as a friend only. The sassy and easy Eleanor (Jennie Jacques), who is Paul’s girlfriend, brings a bottle and challenges her friends to play truth and dare, where she forces Felix to confess his crush on Gemma. Chris becomes jealous and punches Felix on the face. Months later, Felix invites Chris, Gemma, Paul, Eleanor and Luke to his birthday party in the mansion of his family. When they arrive, they learn that the party is at a cabin in the woods of the real estate. They are welcomed by Felix’s brother Justin (David Oakes), who has been in Afghanistan for three years and has just returned home. Further, Felix committed suicide and he says that they will only survive if they say who sent a postcard to his brother and what happened in the party. “Truth or Dare” (2012) is a British horror thriller directed by Robert Heath with a good story by Matthew McGuchan. The plot has many twists with new situations being disclosed and holds the attention of the viewer. The problem is that all the characters are obnoxious, and it is impossible to like any of them. Gemma, performed by Florence Hall, is maybe the only one that the viewer cares about. Chris is a brag and bully; Luke is a drug dealer; Eleanor is ambitious, envious, promiscuous woman; Justin is a neurotic; and Paul is drug user. Therefore, no one is worthwhile to survive. My vote is six. See more Michael P Apr 16 The ending is fairly unexpected but also kind of disappointing and *maybe* distasteful even. Blackmailing some kid you don't like, even at the end of it is some wild stuff. Next time I pick a movie, I'll make sure not to torture myself. The acting is quite bad.
