william d Decent enough melodrama. I'm new to Japanese cinema and I continue to be impressed with the subject matter they were willing to explore in their older films. Back in the forties and fifties you can't find American films that dealt forthright;y with prostitution, infidelity, divorce, etc., but the Japanese seem to do so as a matter of course. American films from that era may hold a technical edge, but the Japanese win out on substance. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
