Bilge Ebiri New York Magazine/Vulture Lafleur's film is a quiet trifle that sneaks up on you, like a pleasant dream you might have and then gradually forget. Its very slightness is its greatest weapon. May 29, 2015 Full Review Stephen Holden New York Times Martin is as desperate to grow up as Nicole is reluctant to take the next step. Both are at a crossroads that this wonderful, lighter-than-air movie depicts as a major turning point. May 28, 2015 Full Review Farran Smith Nehme New York Post Director Stéphane Lafleur shoots in black and white with a sure and delicate eye. Rated: 2.5/4 May 28, 2015 Full Review Vadim Rizov Filmmaker Magazine Even in digital transfer it’s low-key luminous, with a palette of shimmery grays and silvers. Jan 23, 2023 Full Review C.J. Prince Way Too Indie Tu Dors Nicole adds up to something pleasurably off-beat, a funny take on the coming-of-age film. Its quirks surprisingly entertain rather than grate or annoy, largely because of Lafleur's assured direction and Mishara's gorgeous cinematography. Rated: 7.5/10 Jun 3, 2019 Full Review Jim Laczkowski Voices & Visions There hasn't been a more beautifully melancholic movie this decade that has captured what I've experienced both inside and out. It's about fragility, friendship, personal growth and being okay with the mundane. Oct 31, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Tu Dors is the ultimate summer hang out film. It's about nothing more than a summer wasted but it's never dull. Recalling elements of Jim Jarmusch's Stranger than Paradise, the films of Eric Rohmer and Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof, Tu Dors casts a spell all its own Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member A strong French-Canadian picture that has some well-worn thematic material (the listlessness of post-collegiate life), but finds lingering sustenance in gorgeous black-and-white cinematography, and a sense of humor that's often charming. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member In Lafleur's third outing, we observe the goings-on of a bored girl during a dull summer. The results are frustratingly obvious and amateurish, gleefully purposeless, and sporadically funny. But, "Tu dors Nicole" is also dreamy and pleasant in it's subtleties. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Robert Redford would like this movie. Similar to his many movies that simply show real life in a most interesting manner. Give large credit to the script -camera/cinematography ACTORS and casting. All were superb . No car chases-disasters-zombies-aliens-torrid sex scenes killings-explosions or the like. Just well paced dialogue and scenes all within the context supplied by the camera and the fine acting...or rather..fine NON-acting acting. Only thing missing is a bit more HAPPENINGS perhaps..not too much..but a few more salient scenes. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member A young woman directionlessly and disaffectedly spends a summer. Quebec has made one of the "most French" movies I have ever seen. Long shots, subtext-driven scenes, disaffected characters, existential angst - all the trappings are there, and yet even the most inaccessible of French cinema has an energy that's missing from Tu Dors Nicole. Overall, it's so subtle and pretentious that it will probably win an Oscar. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Dull and Lazy flick. So much for the 'International Art House' genre and film festival picks. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews
