In Tuner, Academy Award-winning director Daniel Roher's first narrative feature, Leo Woodall stars as a gifted young piano tuner whose heightened sense of hearing draws the attention of criminals, who see his talents as useful for opening safes as well as for tuning Steinways. With his once-promising musical career over, he works across New York with his mentor Harry Horowitz (Academy Award-winner Dustin Hoffman), encountering a range of characters, including composition student Ruthie (Havana Rose Liu), with whom he forges an unexpected connection. Niki's safecracking work threatens his budding romance with Ruthie and pulls him into increasingly dangerous territory.

Roher knows that in crime flicks, as in jazz, pacing is everything: he reveals just enough but allows the audience to fill in the gaps. Go to Full Review

"Tuner" executes one audience-pleasing plot device too many, and the end result is infuriating. This is film so chock full of clichés that it plays like a montage of genres. Go to Full Review

A first-class, old-school caper jaunt...very tight, tense, enjoyable...deserves its berth in the pantheon of olde tyme crime classics such as Topkapi, The Hot Rock, Le Cercle Rouge, The Score and, of course, Rififi. Go to Full Review

Stephanie 3h Original and different because of the character's circumstances. See more Nancy T 10h It was great! Dustin Hoffman was charming! See more Kenneth P 18h Ok movie, but very predictable. Piano tuner turns to crime to pay some debts, but gets in too deep and needs to find a way out. Nothing you haven't seen before. Wait for streaming See more Tonyia 19h I enjoyed watching this movie engaging, and entertaining. It wasn't really thriller as stated in reviews but a very good drama and romance story. See more Amanda O 21h I love movies with new faces! Great actors and the story line kept me interested the whole time. Cool plot but parts of it were a bit too loud, like they could actually cause hearing damage lol. Other than that, would highly recommend! See more Josh S 23h Fantastic movie. Moves a little slow but the story is mostly solid. Interesting ending. See more Read all reviews
