Critics Consensus

Beautiful scenery and cinematography can't save Turistas from its wooden acting and stale and predictable plot.

It's a film that's more likely to leave you confused and angry than frightened or inspired that something positive is happening in the horror genre. Go to Full Review

Touted as the first American production to be shot entirely in Brazil, Turistas may well be the last, if the country cares at all about its image. Go to Full Review

The grotesque special effects and motivations for the mayhem make it a strong example of a redundant premise, though it can't escape the subgenre's failings. Go to Full Review

One of the more realistic horror movies I've seen in a long time... I think that the themes, the idea of the storyline and the acting was on point. Go to Full Review

If you like horror, you have to watch this. If you like thrillers, you have to watch this. Turistas, in my opinion, is one of the most criminally underrated movies of all time. Especially since movies like saw, and hostel did so well. This movie, unlike others, is 100% believable. The story is so raw and real, and the acting is near perfect. Viewer beware: Like jaws did to beach goers, Turistas will make you never want to travel to a third world country. See more John H 10/30/2024 Seemed a little predictable at first, but, for me, it was well paced and the tension / scare factor was delivered well. Would watch again.
