Marco L @decatur555 Jun 24 Tuya, mía… te la apuesto —also known as La pena máxima or Penalty Kick— is one of the worst comedies I have seen in a long time. The premise could have worked: a football fanatic risks everything because he believes his presence is essential for Mexico’s national team. There are plenty of films about sports obsession, superstition and ridiculous fans, but this one does almost nothing with the idea. It is loud, repetitive, predictable and, worst of all, not funny. Adrián Uribe’s performance is exhausting, pushing an already irritating character into pure caricature. The film also fails to capture the emotion or madness of football fandom. The only real exception is Julieth Restrepo, who brings some dignity and naturalness to a much weaker film. Apart from her, there is almost nothing worth saving.
