02/20/2021 I was pleasantly surprised by this film which I expected to be another fairly two dimensional depiction of this underground subculture. Instead, it offers a more nuanced and character driven story like Awaydays (2008) for example. See more 06/26/2020 While yes, it does have all the aspects of Italian Football and its Hooliganism. Drugs, Sex, Violence, it's got th whole shabang. Only MASSIVE downside resulting in this score, is the netflix dub of it, it's been horrendously done over in a quote en quote Italian American voice, however, half the time it doesn't sound like the stereotypical Italian New Yorker accent, and it just flicks between speaking Italian and English at the most awkward times. One minute they're all speaking English (while their mouths don't even say the words being said) the next, they're chanting in Italian in an entirely different accent. Much rather it be shown in Italian, with English subtitles laid on top. See more 06/16/2020 Im writing this review while still watching the film. Its pretty bad. Its like Sons of Anarchy meets Italian hooligans and not in a good way. I dont know what the Italian script is like but the english dub is horrible. The script is just really bad. What is it that movies get wrong about hooligans and being able to develop a good story because they are all pretty bad. See more r 9 05/17/2020 A good film, if an entirely predictable one. 'Ultras' portrays the world of Italian football ultras, a thing that has always intrigued me given I follow Serie A; though admittedly I have little actual knowledge about supporter culture in Italy. Based on what I do know, I like how the film is put together. It's shot very nicely. The acting is better than average, though Aniello Arena is the clear standout. I really enjoyed his performance as Sandro. The other cast members are all fine in their respective roles. The premise is largely fun to watch, though from the middle of the second act the film does lose its momentum. It regains some of it for the final major event, though it stills affects my feelings towards this. The cinematography is decent, also. In conclusion, it's a solid one to watch.
