Annlee Ellingson Los Angeles Times A compelling portrait of a population decrement via the Florida Straits. Rated: 3/5 Sep 13, 2013 Full Review Michael Phillips Chicago Tribune Mulloy's camera is fully alive to the geographical possibilities of her location, hustling after the hustlers, pausing for a shot of a caged bird or a nightclub singer. It's quite a stew. Rated: 3/4 Sep 12, 2013 Full Review Bill Goodykoontz Arizona Republic [Mulloy] brings a documentarian's objective eye to "Una Noche," yet the actors - non-professionals - convey exactly the emotions she is looking for. Rated: 4/5 Sep 5, 2013 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Tenderly observed, Mulloy's provocative drama is an excitedly assured directorial debut. Aug 22, 2019 Full Review Neely Swanson Easy Reader (California) It will keep you on the edge of your seat all the while breaking your heart. Sep 18, 2017 Full Review Jared Mobarak The Film Stage This trio of actors-probably not too far removed from the plight of their characters-renders each and every second with the utmost credibility. Audience Member Must watch. Only on Netflix Instant for 24 more hours! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member A nice Bildungsfilm from Cuba. Sailing 90 miles on a makeshift boat from Havana to Miami. Will their life be any better? Don't know. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member A beautifully shot and very well acted (amateur cast) film about young people dreaming of escaping Cuba and capturing the energy of life and all its hustling beauty and then has a sad and touching ending. Very recommended. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Great movie- very authentic, being filmed in Cuba and using Cuban actors too. It was nice getting a glance into this mysterious country, but one must not forget, a glance is like watching through a keyhole- it isn't the full view. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member This beaitufully shot Cuban movie tells of an improbable trio who is trying to cope with daily life in La Havana. Poor but close, twins Elio and Lila manage to help out Raul plan his escape to Miami where he wants to reunite with his long lost father. In their enterprise to flee the country their faith will be tested and their lives changed forever. It's a tough film, sad but beautiful, like the song being sung by this woman all along the film. The cinematography is splendid and the trio of actors is incredibly powerful. A great little film based on true events and bringing a new meaning to the word hope. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Great movie. Sad at the end. Wild story telling that's a real thing that happens in Cuba. That country is really not clean and wouldn't visit it at all. USA is cleaner and safer. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Read all reviews
