Audience Member This picture works on every level: direction, performances, story, you name it. Bruce Corey (Edward G. Robinson) returns from the war to develop a tabloid newspaper replete with sensationalistic stories. He partners with a crime lord to start up the business, because he's in need of money. Subplots are strongly constructed and director Mervyn LeRoy's staging of scenes is a primer for would-be filmmakers. Female co-leads, Laraine Day and Marsha Hunt, are on-point and Edward Arnold as the heavy goes toe-to-toe with the great Robinson. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews
