Rick Bentley Tribune News Service The sets are so limited and interaction so tight, the presentation comes across as less of a feature film and more of a stage production. That's not a problem when the words and performances are as on target as the ones presented here. Rated: 3/4 Nov 2, 2018 Full Review John DeFore The Hollywood Reporter A lack of psychological depth probably isn't fatal for a lite get-your-act-together dramedy, but it might've made this hard-to-love protagonist easier to at least care about. Nov 1, 2018 Full Review Kimber Myers Los Angeles Times "Unlovable" is the rare indie film that gets just the right level of twee. Oct 31, 2018 Full Review Kip Mooney Fresh Fiction Hard to love but easy to admire. Rated: B Aug 10, 2021 Full Review Grant Watson VCinema There is potential in Unlovable (...) As it stands, however, the film feels like a missed opportunity. Rated: 5/10 May 2, 2019 Full Review Carla Renata The Curvy Film Critic Love. Sex. When we hear addiction we immediately associate it with alcohol or drugs...right? Love and sex can be just as addictive and damaging to one's life, self-esteem and those who inhabit that person's world. Rated: 8/10 Feb 6, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Once Jim got into the mix this turned into a very likable movie 3.4. I feel bad for Ben in the whole ordeal, he seemed like a good enough guy Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/22 Full Review dave d An interesting hubby and wife date night selection, 'Unloveable' was more enjoyable for wife than hubby, but a good time was had by all. Hubby: A tough subject made relatable thanks to newcomer Charlene deGuzman who stars and wrote this formulaic, yet engaging yarn about a women's struggle with addiction, but probably not the addiction anyone would think of at first glance. There are moments, thanks in large part to the casting of John Hawkes who plays the reclusive brother of the director of the 12-step sex and love addiction program, portrayed by Melissa Leo. Those three keep the film firmly marching onward, buoyed by some music and a short run time. There's a lot of fluff, and it's the kind of film you're not going to remember seeing in about three weeks, but it's not going to make you throw your device out the window either. 6.8/10 Wife: Once again hubby can't stand some empty calories of fun that tells a good story. An overall charming movie, that might be a little too vulgar for some. The lead female actress was believable in her role as an addict and her connection to others came across as genuine. Just long enough, with a clean finish. 8.0 Average Final Score: 7.4/10 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is an awesome movie for anyone to see who is dealing with S&L addiction, and I've been recommending it to people so they can educate themselves and understand how it isn't synonymous with "nymphomania" like most people seem to believe. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Saw this at the Calgary International Film Festival and it was fantastic. Charlene deGuzman and John Hawkes put on incredible performances. This movie will resonate with so many...especially women! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Read all reviews
