While the story of Anthony Robles is nothing short of incredible and inspiring the cinematic telling of his story was purely underwhelming. Neither Jharrel Jerome nor Jennifer Lopez has memorable performances. The movie itself also seemed to give too much focus on the wrong things. Yes, the struggles in his home were a major part of the adversity he faced, but there just wasn't enough wrestling. They started to do a montage of his matches but stopped way too soon. I never felt like I saw his wrestling journey from walk-on to national champion. I only saw the championship matches while being told he went from a nobody to a legend on the mat.
