Remember seeing this film soon after its blu-ray release. Went in blind knowing I dug Logan Marshall-Green in The Invitation. And I'm I sucker for interesting sci-fi/horror expressions. This film did not disappoint! The first action sequence when STEM takes control of Grey's actions was bonkers and I was laughing out loud. Not due to humor, but disbelief. Interesting premise, great action sequences and the actors that played Eron and Fisk really nailed it. Definitely recommend if you're looking for something interesting, dark and fun.

Despite the rather unoriginal themes, "Upgrade" is a captivating watch. Logan Marshall-Green delivers a strong performance and displays quite a bit of range including some really solid physical work, the action is shot and edited very competently, and there is room for humour too. Thankfully, the finale doesn't disappoint by resorting to a forced happy ending or a weak plot reveal; instead, it's a progression and expansion of what has come before, and its suitable inescapability reverberates.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Don’t let the budget fool you. Upgrade is one of the best sci-fi action films I’ve seen in years. Smart, gritty, original, and packed with fantastic action. A hidden gem that’s well worth watching.
