Tim Robey Daily Telegraph (UK) A promising and attractive film from Benot Jacquot that devolves into an oddly unchallenging arthouse remake of Under the Tuscan Sun. Rated: 3/5 Jun 30, 2010 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian Sometimes diverting in an eccentric and disengaged way. Rated: 2/5 Jun 25, 2010 Full Review Henry Barnes Little White Lies Benot Jacquot, in his fifth collaboration with Isabelle Huppert, drops us into the flurry of events that make up a year in the life of professional musician Ann Hidden. Rated: 3/5 Jun 25, 2010 Full Review Alistair Harkness Scotsman The film's resolution makes Villa Amalia seem more mundane than it should. Rated: 3/5 Aug 2, 2010 Full Review Amber Wilkinson Eye for Film Jacquot's film does not pander to the young or inexperienced and requires the viewer to read between the lines. Audience Member La actuación de Huppert, como siempre, destacable. Muy lindos paisajes urbanos y de montañas y lagos. Entretenido de principio al fin. Trama fácil de seguir. Un personaje y una historia simple, en el mejor sentido del término. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member While it doesn't always work, this is a very interesting study of identity, sexuality and life. If it never quite comes together, the fault is not with Isabelle Huppert who is exceptional in the leading role. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member 38%?!?!? Did I see a different film? This movie pulled me expecting one thing and giving me something quite unexpected and beautiful. Benoît Jacquot has made a better film with FAREWELL MY QUEEN, but this is his most charming work. It made me want to destroy my identity and run to Italy. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Such as that film, may be you may feels dull or boring but its like a real life, which have so many exciting.....beside , i know don't why am always interest in.....the film combine with piano :))) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Like the French version of Another Year. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Sometimes, it is rather difficult watching big names, veteran actors, like Isabelle Huppert, act. On the one hand, most of them have been seriously typecasted after all these years. Like Huppert, who has been repeating roles with cold face but very passionate-hearted. On the other hand, veteran actors' egos are so enormous that all roles look just the same under their handling. Characters' own characteristics, in different texts, had been almost, completely overwhelmed by actors' personal charisma instead- & which is, commonly seen in French Cinema. Nobody dares to argue they can't act, of course. Therefore I am already glad enough to see if there was a slight difference happening, like this one.
