Based on Virginia Woolf's funniest novel, Night & Day is an un-romantic comedy about a passionate astronomer Katharine Hilbery who does everything she can to avoid romantic love and marriage. Fun and contemporary in tone, this refreshing film showcases an ensemble of humouros performances against the ravishing backdrop of London in 1910, advances in science and technology and crumbling Edwardian patriarchy. Virginia's story is as relevant to today as it ever was: women balancing romantic love with careers!

This is an elegant, thoughtful, and quietly rebellious film that offers a compelling reminder that the struggle to live authentically never goes out of style. Go to Full Review

Directed by British Iranian film-maker Tina Gharavi, this is a delight: a spirited and slightly quirky tale of female empowerment. Go to Full Review

Still, in the hands of Tehran-born director Tina Gharavi, this film’s warm aura is often achievement enough. Go to Full Review

Wisely jettisoning the social snobbery that mars Woolf’s book, the Iranian-born director Tina Gharavi goes heavy on the cosmological imagery and ambient synths to establish a tone that is matched by Bennett’s spirited central performance. Go to Full Review

At times, it can be a little jarring – Simon Goff’s sci-fi score, for example – but the all-star ensemble and production values give it sufficient ballast. Go to Full Review

Valerie P @RT62815632 Jun 26 The cast did not allow me to become emotionally invested in the characters. I am guessing this is partly to do with the director, screenwriting and actors. I did not bond with the lead actress who seemed to be channeling Kate Winslet. It didn’t gel. Poor casting, dialogue and lack of connection between the actors. A few good scenes from the time honoured thespians. Well done. See more Read all reviews
