Movie N Movie Maker of 'Voyage of the Chimera' I'm giving you a high rating because (https://filmthreat.com/reviews/voyage-of-the-chimera/) made a very good point! I am involved in a (my 1st) micro-budget Indie Feature still in production and it too should be in the 'Low Budget' category and not rated amongst pro productions. I understand what it takes to be involved in movie making (i'm a soundie as well as post audio engineer), arranging a DP, makeup, set dressers, sound, gaffers, locations, scheduling, permits, travel and food having to contend with weather, not getting paid like everyone else on this movie until if the film will make funds but we are all giving it our heart and soul just to start out like you guys and girls are. Great first attempt! Don't give up keep going! I hope you make enough from this movie to make another! Don't let these armchair noise makers get you down. At least you are doing something and I take my hat off to that. Recently watched 'The Union' I rated you guys 3 stars higher and ur worth it. By the way 1200 Rhodesian Pounds = $6.63 US...haha that was a nice touch! Hope to see more comedy in your next movie. Make more movies! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/02/24 Full Review Chuck B Rarely does one get the opportunity to witness really bad science fiction. I mean we complain about crap coming out of the srudios.. who can forget the assault on intelligence that was another life? But truly inept film making rarely sees the light of day. Then there's The Voyage of The Chimera. Like it or not a show is as good as the visial quality of its actors....it's a visual medium. So normally audiences are used to attractive bad actors if the show is bad. I mean at least they look pretty. Chimera aims to be different with frumpy bad actors. First though...before we get into acting so robotic that Klato from the original Day The Earth Stood Still looks like Derek Jacobi next to these clowns...let's talk about casting: Its a sausage fest where the two times females show up, one does not speak and the other looks like they grabbed someone's granny and got her to act for a free coupon at Golden Coral. The "love interest" of the Captain..and in the movie he's some catch....is supposed to be this rich princess. So...did they get one of the thousands of bikini models...heck even porn actresses... that could play the part to stare at the camera and smile? No....they got a chubby almost double chin woman who looks like a frumpy HR exec from a red state insurance company satellite office trying to look decent for ladies night at the local cowboy bar. But that's okay cause the rich scion of a the down om the heels founding family who is the captain looks like a schlub who works a 7/11. Truly Dante in Clerks looks more like the part that his guy. I think....by the looks of him they were aiming for Will Weaton? I don't know.....but I expect ti can ask him next time he hands me mu change at whatever convenience store he works at. What about the acting? I mean the actors out shine their visual .mediocrity...right? Alas....no. Stiffer than a Role Playing Gamer suddenly asked to improve and actually role play, these people show all the presence and purpose of small town used care sales staff doing a commercial. Truly...the green screen behind them showed more life and chemistry. It was painfully clear that remembering their lines and hitting their marks was such an issue that they had nothing less to...you kmow...act. It was so bad that Im sure they are not affected by the actors strike because Acotrs Union President Fran Dresher would look at this and claim what they are doing did not cross the picket line. Before I thought there was nothing worse than the drek that was the Netflix series Another Life. Chimera stepped up to the plate to claim the title. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/25/23 Full Review Ron J I've never written a review here before. The "acting" in this movie deserved it... and I only saw 15 minutes of this movie. Nuff said. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/21/23 Full Review Jan M An indie flick with a solid universe, decent story and combat. Submarines in space vibe. Lots of threads to tie off in future episodes if they keep going and I hope they do. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/19/23 Full Review Dan D This was terrible. Slow, boring waste of time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/03/23 Full Review Jamy S First Rate B SciFi Script is excellent, cast and production is professional on a budget; Don't let the Disney trolls dissuade you Something of a Horacio Hornblower in space; Managing Naval protocol with a sub class crew on a fringe mission led by an unvalued captain, not a fantasy, not an action adventure, human interaction with a constructive goal Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
