Andrea Gronvall Chicago Reader Timing is everything in comedy, and according to this nostalgic documentary portrait of Rose Marie, she always knew when to jump to the next big thing. Jan 18, 2018 Full Review Randy Cordova Arizona Republic Basically, it feels as if you're sitting down with Rose Marie for 90 minutes while she talks about her life. Rated: 4/5 Dec 7, 2017 Full Review Michael Rechtshaffen Los Angeles Times A warm, affectionate smooch of a documentary tribute chronicling "the longest career in showbiz history." Nov 16, 2017 Full Review Steven Prokopy Third Coast Review The heart and soul of the film belongs to Rose Marie, who is interviewed extensively for the film and has a seemingly endless supply of stories about all of her old pals and peers May 27, 2020 Full Review Steve Persall Tampa Bay Times A portrait of an indefatigable entertainer emerges, restless when she wasn't working and fearless when she was. Rated: B+ Apr 2, 2018 Full Review Mark Dawidziak Cleveland Plain Dealer Befitting its subject, the documentary "Wait for Your Laugh" is a breezy and engaging whirlwind trip through the crowded life of a performer who pretty much embodies the show-business term "trouper." Audience Member A fittingly loving tribute to a hardworking and classic talent, with a career that was as expansive as it was under-remembered. Still, there's a good bit of old-Hollywood arrogance that's hard to shake. It feels like everyone involved here is too close to here to call her what she could clearly often be: an entitled Hollywood Karen. Nonetheless, it's mildly diverting…and the Dick Van Dyke section is wonderful. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Befitting film for an underappreciated legend. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/08/18 Full Review Audience Member Wonderful documentary on a truly amazing talent Rose Marie, She narrates a good part of the film herself, in that unmistakable voice, beginning with her fame as a 4-year-old singer, and her multi-talents taking her into so many entertainment outlets, wanting to work till her passing in late 2017 at the age of 94. The movie has many surprises to offer and I found it all quite fascinating. The one minor criticism I have is that the director, Jason Wise, used some recreations of events in Rose Marie's life and that came across to me as rather gimmicky. But the actual film footage and still photos depicting her remarkable journey, interwoven with Rose Marie's and other interviewees comments, were extraordinary. All in all, a highly engaging and entertaining film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautiful told in her own words. An engaging story of an amazing career and life. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/18 Full Review steve b Might be the best movie of the year! Absolute MASTERPIECE!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Show biz and social history through the eyes of a legend who lived it. Not to be missed. Funny, fascinating, totally entertaining.
