Ronnie Scheib Variety Strong thesping and solid staging, atmospherically accompanied by disorienting, darkly folksy Ramsay Midwood songs make Wake surprisingly watchable. Nov 4, 2005 Full Review Michael Rechtshaffen Hollywood Reporter Feels like a stagy adaptation of an already contrived play. Jun 5, 2004 Full Review V.A. Musetto New York Post Strictly straight-to-video fodder. Rated: 1/4 May 28, 2004 Full Review Jules Brenner Cinema Signals A sour piece of work without a stitch of humor, taking itself too seriously... dramatic aspirations dead on arrival. Rated: 2/5 May 29, 2004 Full Review Stina Chyn Film Threat Each brother fulfills a different purpose in the plot, and because they don't allow you to get too emotionally close, they're not as predictable. They're more real. Rated: 3/5 May 29, 2004 Full Review Maitland McDonagh TV Guide If you're already asking, 'Why don't these alcoholic losers just stop picking at their mental scabs and grow up?' this is not the movie for you. Audience Member I really don't know why I sat through this movie in its entirety. Mostly it was because I kept hoping there would be more Martin Landau. This movie begins and ends beautifully thanks to him, but everything in between is mundane and depressing. If I wanted to watch people fight for an hour and a half, I'd go sit at the mall. This is awful. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Gale Harold's portrayal of confusion and insanity is beautiful. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member What can I say Gale Harold is the best actor out there today and so underrated as an actor. He really shines in this movie. Behind his eyes there is nothing, he is this charater from beginning to end. To be so into your charater, to be so cold that when you look into his eyes and you can see only that charater and nothing else but the emotion of that charater you have a GREAT actor. Now if Hollywood would only take notice. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Nothing is allowed to build, so there is no tension or surprise left for the film's climax, resulting in a reductively pulpy rehash of 20th century American drama. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member I rented this so I could be in Gale Harold's presence again. I fell in love with him as Brian Kinney on "Queer as Folk". I wasn't disappointed. He is an underrated actor. He is a master at being vulnerable one minute and then turning cold and calculating the next. I love that! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Gale is hot (duh!) it's good. Landau is good in the small part he has. Henry Finch is an extreemly nice guy. Very down to earth - I wish him well in his career. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
