Audience Member Funny, original & romantic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Fun and feel good British film Lots of talent in this film Don't understand the bad reviews Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member As I'm a tad over 40, this film was a big hit with me. The laughs kept coming from me. Yes it was on the same formula as brassed off/ full monty but the script was far more clever. The pub closure idea is what weve been seeing since the british wrestling went off the telly, but the last pubs in our villages and town are now also going, so this scenario is shouting at us and whilst many are shouting back, others are buying for the community. So yes the Pub is the HUB and this film, while showing us how communities are working together, how ordinary folk can beat the big bad corporate suits. Yes its an Easy Easy film, but only if you knew who Kendo Nagasaki was, else you wouldn't get half the jokes. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Stephen Graham once again showing that he can make the most of anything. Arguably let down by some of the casting and a weak script, but not the worst thing I've sat through on an evening! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Brilliant film, took me back to the days when I would watch the likes of Mark Rocco, Les Kellet, Cat Weasel and the rest, on a Saturday afternoon. Loved the storyline and the characters. PS Noticed on the end credits that Mark Rollerball Rocco was the wrestling co-ordinator on this film - Well Done You Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Genuine shame as this could have been really funny but the characters are caricatures, the plot is predictable and the audience is given no reason to care about either! Drags on interminably from one utterly ridiculous and poorly edited scene to the next. Save yourself a couple of hours and watch something else! Ed Potton Times (UK) Such ridiculousness should be funny, but it's not, possibly because the world it's lampooning was so laughable in the first place. Best entertainment in the world? This isn't even the best entertainment in Marsden. Rated: 1/5 Mar 9, 2018 Full Review Robbie Collin Daily Telegraph (UK) It is all so relentlessly toe-curling that at the end I found myself walking out of the cinema like Mr Tumnus, gingerly picking his way through the Narnian snowpack. Rated: 2/5 Mar 8, 2018 Full Review Nigel Andrews Financial Times Blimey O'Riley. Rated: 2/5 Mar 7, 2018 Full Review Michael Glover Smith Cultured Vultures When it's this damn likeable and just wants to simply please you, with the added joy of just seeing so many high quality working class actors together in a big British film, it's impossible not to like. Rated: 7.5/10 Oct 24, 2019 Full Review Matthew Bond The Mail on Sunday (UK) Unfortunately, the execution is so poor and the comedy so weak, it won't succeed. Rated: 2/5 Sep 10, 2018 Full Review Jonathan Dean Sunday Times (UK) So inept is Dan Cadan's film, you end up rooting for the bulldozers. Rated: 2/5 Sep 10, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews
