During the Cretaceous Period, a dinosaur named Patchi (Justin Long) hatches among a herd of Pachyrhinosaurus. Patchi's runt status means he must use his wits rather than strength to compete for food with his larger brothers and sisters, particularly Scowler. After a terrible fire leaves Patchi, Scowler, and a female named Juniper on their own, the rivalry between the brothers escalates to a dangerous level. Critics Consensus

Walking with Dinosaurs boasts painstaking visual brilliance, but it's unfortunately clouded by a clumsy script that's dominated by juvenile humor.

When the wisecracking dialogue occasionally shuts up and the jerky pace slows down, you notice the astonishing CGI detailing. Otherwise, this boasts all the flair, heart and originality of an inbred sea cucumber. Go to Full Review

All narration and childish fart jokes should've been removed from this movie, and then, perhaps the children in the audience would actually learn something. Go to Full Review

an insufferable family adventure whose impressive animation is consistently undercut by cartoonish self-awareness. Go to Full Review

With cringe-worthy dialogue and a long and unnecessary story, there's nothing about this film that stands out, which unfortunately shames the late '90s BBC series from which it originates. Go to Full Review

For all of its visual feats, you can never quite get around that disconnected dialogue, especially the persistent chatter from a prehistoric bird-narrator voiced by John Leguizamo that approaches Jar-Jar levels of irritation. Go to Full Review

See more Samuel L Nov 30 This is a near unwatchable piece of garbage that disgraces the name of the original series. Although the film visually looks great, with CGI dinosaurs almost flawlessly composited into a real-life landscape, there is nothing else good to take away from this excuse of a film. Apparently, there were big production issues, and the original film company filed for bankruptcy, being bought out by 20th Century Fox, who added trashy dialogue over the top of impressive animation with actual effort put into it. Before the production trouble, the original company were going to show dinosaurs as how they would have actually lived back in the Cretaceous period, acting like animals with no annoying dialogue, but of course, all that effort had to be destroyed by a larger company. All in all, Walking With Dinosaurs, dinosaur in general, anything that Tim Haines has made, or good movies, don't watch Walking With Dinosaurs 3-D. If I could give this zero stars, I would. See more Neo G Sep 18 One of my favorite childhood movies. People who critique this movie for features obviously geared towards its child audience are miserable and allergic to perspectives and ideas that differ from their own. It has a humorous tone to keep kids engaged, the main protagonists display good characteristics/behaviors, and while it is not rooted in being educational, the fun facts dispersed throughout are age appropriate and interesting even as an adult. Beyond this, the CGI is incredibly well done and the soundtrack is fitting. See more Read all reviews
