Actually from 1980, one of the darker Shaw Brothers actioners I've seen, both thematically and visually. The lead character is quite loyal and generous with his fellow officers and soldiers, but shows no mercy towards criminals. Some don't agree with his methods, but this is not a world where mercy would benefit you. Kuan Tai Chen is excellent as the ruthless chief constable, and Ku Feng does what he does best: he shows up and plays a major villain. Also, a weird comment to make but it has some of the best blood spray and effects I've ever seen.
