Mangas Coloradas (Lex Barker), an Apache chief, and white trader Luke Fargo (Ben Johnson) are bound by friendship and their mutual love for Riva (Joan Taylor), a Mexican-Native American girl rescued from horse thieves. Riva marries Mangas, who teaches her the warrior's ways, and she later warns the Apaches of an ambush by white soldiers. When Fargo, who did not intend an attack, is injured, Riva helps him -- a kindness he must choose whether or not to return when war with the Apaches erupts.

Audience Member Really good Western with the Apache Indians yes I recommend it James Welch, Henderson, Arkansas October 20, 2023 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/20/23 Full Review Audience Member if u can get past the cultural bias here, not a bad technicolor B western. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Short feel good Western with a good performance from Ben Johnson. Lots of anachronisms, though, typical of Westerns of the period. Fargo refers to President Lincoln, but later news headlines are shown dated October 1860. A Model 1892 rifle is displayed to the Apache leader as what should have been the 1860 Henry. Soldiers are wearing the postwar 1870s cavalry outfits instead of period correct Civil War era uniforms. Stereotypical Apache costumes, but the native Americans are portrayed in a relatively positive manner in much of the film. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Read all reviews
