Steve D Ricci does a strong job but the film is ill-conceived and lame. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/24 Full Review IsMackinac N This movie suffers from bad production quality, bad cinematography, bad writing and in most cases very bad acting. But Christina Ricci and Tom Berenger were great. Seemed like a real stretch for her, but she's always good. If you have insomnia and want to watch something, this will do. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/22/23 Full Review Nana f I'm surprised this got a lower rating because I thought it was a terrific movie. The filming was a bit primitive, but the acting was very good, and the portrayal of one Southern woman's attempt to survive the Civil War while her husband is out fighting was actually very educational. I could t imagine surviving with marauding troops coming into your home at will. The attempted rape scene was very realistic. The pillaging of her last household trinkets and the last of the food for her and her daughter. The final assault…a Northern cannon firing directly on her home and sending it into flames, reminds us all how truly terrible the five bloody years of Northerners fighting Southerners was enough to drive a person to near madness. The movie ends on a positive note but is not sickeningly sweet. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Christiana and Berenger were the only saving grace in this portrayal of the Civil War. Very poor acting with a weak script. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Well, for a free Amazon, cold February Saturday, I felt completely happy and watched it a second time. It was not something that should have ever been in 3D. FOR me, a Southerner, surrounded by history which is being erased, I will watch and suggest to everyone to catch this flick. I saw no 3rd rate acting. As we all know, the Southern dialect is disappearing. Not everyone can accurately depict. Obviously a woman has a different interest in this film. This is more about a woman and mother survival during a horrible time and her struggles to maintain an entire farm, while suffering and starving. She was seen as a object of sex from the side her husband fought for, while a perfect gentleman treated her with kindness snd respect but was a Yankee. The enemy. Be more open to a woman's perspective in the war and not just the war itself, and you will enjoy it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Dull! Rented this in 3D, and the 3D was the worst conversion i've seen yet. The story was dull (and been seen a thousand times), the script was awful, and i hate to say it... the acting was terrible. The camerawork was ok, but the poor editing made this film move at a dreadfully slow pace and help emphasise all the poor areas! :( Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
