      Critics Consensus

Smart, powerfully acted, and devilishly clever, We Are Still Here offers some novel twists on familiar territory -- and heralds the arrival of a major talent in writer-director Ted Geoghegan.

Marc L Same old New England town story that has a curse. This movie could’ve been made to be 5 minutes long and you’d get the whole story. Yeah, people died in the end with ridiculous amounts of unnecessary blood. How the hell can ANYONE call this a masterpiece???? Nothing scary about it, lame acting, I could go on. A 97% RATING??? The ones who think so must’ve been smokin the hippie’s cheeba. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/27/24 Full Review Alec B Some of it's plot is half baked, there are some really weak performances, but the utterly shocking and wonderfully gory finale makes the whole movie worth a viewing. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/14/23 Full Review Logan D Two retirees move into a house that demands sacrifice every 30 years. Course they got it cheap. An exceptional horror movie with interesting characters and an intelligent plot. Crampton impressed me with her performance and she's still so beautiful. Loved the visual portrayal of the spooks and found it a very tense film that honors some forebears in horror. Highly recommended. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/05/23 Full Review Eduardo O This movie was a director's nightmare, excellent material and premise
but terrible dialogue, acting, and over-the-top camera work. One can't help but think of what the camera person must be doing behind the lens to get the unnecessary movement and try hard angles. The mother & father's acting is horrendous, must be related to someone important or someone owed them a favor. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/27/23 Full Review Vito P Melancholic, cynical, ironic and bloody, "We Are Still Here" manages to be a sincere homage to Fulci's cinema and the typical horror of that era. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/02/24 Full Review Anthony S Possibly one of the dumbest movies I've ever watched. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter Showcasing juicy performances by its actors who tear into their stock roles with admirable conviction, the film looks terrific. Aug 21, 2015 Full Review Glenn Kenny RogerEbert.com More than a mere homage, "We Are Still Here" is the kind of movie you wish you could take back in time with you and project in your favorite 42nd Street grindhouse. Rated: 3/4 Jun 5, 2015 Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times Once "We Are Still Here" unsticks itself from hommage mode, it finds something cathartically funny inside the fearsome. Jun 4, 2015 Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed We Are Still Here delivers on the scares while showing a story of loss. It's effective and works on many levels, not the least of which being how it homages scary movies of the 1970s. Rated: 4.5/5 Apr 19, 2020 Full Review David Keyes Cinemaphile.org There is a skill working through the frames of director Ted Geoghegan's debut opus, providing us with enough allure and tension to more than make up for the maddening uncertainty. Rated: 3/4 Nov 17, 2018 Full Review Bill Graham The Film Stage Geoghegan shows a healthy love of gore as he smears the quiet landscape with red. Rated: B- Feb 23, 2016 Full Review Read all reviews
