Critics Consensus

Smart, powerfully acted, and devilishly clever, We Are Still Here offers some novel twists on familiar territory -- and heralds the arrival of a major talent in writer-director Ted Geoghegan.

Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter Showcasing juicy performances by its actors who tear into their stock roles with admirable conviction, the film looks terrific. Aug 21, 2015 Full Review Glenn Kenny RogerEbert.com More than a mere homage, "We Are Still Here" is the kind of movie you wish you could take back in time with you and project in your favorite 42nd Street grindhouse. Rated: 3/4 Jun 5, 2015 Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times Once "We Are Still Here" unsticks itself from hommage mode, it finds something cathartically funny inside the fearsome. Jun 4, 2015 Full Review Trace Thurman Horror Queers Podcast The horror is solid and the cast is aces, but it's writer/director Ted Geoghegan's poignant depiction of grief that makes We Are Still Here truly soar. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 10, 2025 Full Review Joe Lipsett Horror Queers Podcast A powerful mediation on grief that occasionally gets swallowed up by a secondary cult plot, Geoghegan's feature debut boasts an all-star cast of classic horror actors and great special effects. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 5, 2025 Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed We Are Still Here delivers on the scares while showing a story of loss. It's effective and works on many levels, not the least of which being how it homages scary movies of the 1970s. Rated: 4.5/5 Apr 19, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Ricardo d Um suspense bem lento, e que no climax fica uma loucura que quase não se explica muita coisa. O desfecho dos pais achei muito fraco. A cena gore é a melhor de todo o filme. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/11/25 Full Review Audience Member Like a 1970's made for TV movie (I don't mean that as a compliment) except with more gore. The plot was nonsensical, the acting was bad. It seemed promising at the very beginning but got more off the rails the further in it got. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/05/25 Full Review Claudio C We Are Still Here (2015) The Secret of Dagmar House (11,851 – 24 Jul 2025 – by Claudio Carvalho) In the late 70’s, Paul Sacchetti (Andrew Sensenig) and Anne Sacchetti (Barbara Crampton) lose their beloved son Bobby in a car accident. Twp months later, Paul buys an old house from 1859 in the countryside of New England to have a fresh start to their lives, since Anne is depressed. Anne feels Bobby inside the house and invites their sensitive friends May Lewis (Lisa Marie) and Jacob Lewis (Larry Fessenden) and May invites her son and his girlfriend to join them. When their neighbor Dave McCabe (Monte Markham) visits them, they learn that the Gagmar House was originally a mortuary, and it has been empty for thirty years. Soon they learn that there is an evil presence in the house that intends to kill them. “We Are Still Here” (2015) is not a bad movie at all, despite the flaws. The secret of Dagmar House is shown from the beginning, when the evil ghost appears in the basement. The reason why the townspeople wants to kill Paul and Anne, although explained, is silly since the demons would have killed them. My vote is six. I can imagine how fun it would have been to see it at a drive-in movie theater. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/14/25 Full Review Horror fan 4 Filled with plenty of jump scares and classic haunted horror.
