04/03/2017 I remembered it was a good movie when I first watched it. Rewatched it 10 years later and can't believe how slow the movie is and what's interesting about it. This one blends goofy comedy, war drama, tragedy, action and social commentary for a highly entertaining ride. See more 03/26/2015 Definitely not a war movie as I thought it would be before watching it, and it surprised me, in a good way. It's interesting how the movie shows how, despite fighting for different ideologies, both sides are still the same people, they're still koreans. It also showed how the war devastated most of korea, which at the time was a very rural country, and that Korea was really just one more battlefield for the US and the USSR. "Welcome to Dongmakgol" is indeed a very beautiful and thoughtful movie. See more 10/21/2014 Funny and heartbreaking at the same time. A bold and unique movie.
