Richard Brody New Yorker ...a fiercely textured drama of a woman's life on the rough side of the Lower East Side... Apr 14, 2020 Full Review Aaron Hillis Village Voice Come for the cult of personality, stay for the nostalgia of a dirtier, dodgier, far cooler scene. Jul 29, 2014 Full Review Marya E. Gates Cool People Have Feelings, Too. (Substack) Where Wren in Seidelman’s film [Smithereens] had a boatload of ambition to drive her ever forward, Amodeo’s Lisa (played brilliantly by the writer-director-producer-star herself) is a bit more like Wanda from Barbara Loden's Wanda. Audience Member Great period piece with real people, not actors. It shows but that's part of the charm Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member The only reason I know about this film is that an acquaintance of the director lent it to me. It captures street life quite well and has a dream cast including Richard Hell and Johnny Thunders. The pacing and frquent long takes (there is not that much cutting) reminded me of Jim Jarmush's work, and the lead sympathertic performance by Amodeo evokes a thousand jerk loving lost souls I have known in real life.
