"What Comes Around" is what happens when filmmakers lack tact and land squarely in the realm of exploitation. Go to Full Review

Adapting plays into films often produces some wonky results, and this is no different. Despite its flaws, this film is still an intriguing exploration into age gaps in dating, the mysteries of meeting someone online, and the way people portray themselves. Go to Full Review

The [script's] sharp turn is, on one level, lurid and creepy. It’s also a narrative dead-end, a “check, please” moment from which the sharpest screenwriter would find hard to recover. Go to Full Review

Director Amy Redford presents her second film, What Comes Around, as a relationship thriller but murky and awkward storytelling makes the film fall flat despite the best efforts of its star Grace Van Dien. Go to Full Review

Alec D. @alec.doslan Nov 16 The editing and scenes transition in this film made it so awkward. 2 stars because I was interested enough to finish the movie. See more Jun 8 I typically like weird movies and yeah this was pretty weird. I feel like something was missing though. I think the dialogue felt unnatural. The twist was interesting, was not expecting it. See more The H Dec 30 Had some good ideas but nothing was done correctly. Also, it's very strange to watch, it's like AI wrote the script & also acted out the parts... nothing feels genuine or human like, hard to describe, but if you watch it, you'll understand what I mean, the way character react to things or talk to each other doesn't seem natural at all. See more Ashley X @ashleyxo 11/11/2024 Definitely better than expected! Don’t assume this is another slow, boring, predictable movie. It’s not as predictable as one may assume and has more than one plot twist. Every scene I thought would end predictably, turned out in a way I wasn’t expecting. It also didn’t have any fast forward moments, considering that it wasn’t super gripping and emotionally charged. However, it was mysterious enough to keep you intrigued and wondering, what will play out next? I also liked that it didn’t have a “low budget” feel and there wasn’t any bad acting. The script was good and while initially I thought it didn’t do the plot justice, and that it was leaving out some details and realistic responses, it actually makes a lot of sense in the end. It’s suspenseful but not in a forced way. It’s not letting you in to what’s really going on, in the same way the characters aren’t. By the time I watched it through I realized hypothetically, I wouldn’t change anything about this film, and it is really good as is. If you like a drama with some suspense and a light thriller, you’ll enjoy this one. See more 09/19/2024 I quite enjoyed watching this movie, especially Kyle gallner’s powerful performance as usual. It may seem a little thin plot initially but the more I think about it, the more I get it. I felt sad to see how cruel and selfish the mom was when she tried to gaslight Jesse even after 12 years. While it may have been mainly to protect her daughter, she cannot justify her action when it destroys other’s life. See more @Will1 09/04/2024 Another film where I found myself fast forwarding through most of it. I will say this without spoiling anything: There’s typically only one script for this type of film (predictable), and it surprisingly turns out to be very different every time you guess what’s going to happen next. It was a great attempt at something different but just a bit too slow and no character development. It is worth the ending scene with the daughter! See more Read all reviews
