It’s also a narrative dead-end, a “check, please” moment from which the sharpest screenwriter would find hard to recover. Ashley X Definitely better than expected! Don’t assume this is another slow, boring, predictable movie. It’s not as predictable as one may assume and has more than one plot twist. Every scene I thought would end predictably, turned out in a way I wasn’t expecting. It also didn’t have any fast forward moments, considering that it wasn’t super gripping and emotionally charged. However, it was mysterious enough to keep you intrigued and wondering, what will play out next? I also liked that it didn’t have a “low budget” feel and there wasn’t any bad acting. The script was good and while initially I thought it didn’t do the plot justice, and that it was leaving out some details and realistic responses, it actually makes a lot of sense in the end. It’s suspenseful but not in a forced way. It’s not letting you in to what’s really going on, in the same way the characters aren’t. By the time I watched it through I realized hypothetically, I wouldn’t change anything about this film, and it is really good as is. If you like a drama with some suspense and a light thriller, you’ll enjoy this one. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/11/24 Full Review Audience Member I quite enjoyed watching this movie, especially Kyle gallner’s powerful performance as usual. It may seem a little thin plot initially but the more I think about it, the more I get it. I felt sad to see how cruel and selfish the mom was when she tried to gaslight Jesse even after 12 years. While it may have been mainly to protect her daughter, she cannot justify her action when it destroys other’s life. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review Audience Member Another film where I found myself fast forwarding through most of it. I will say this without spoiling anything: There’s typically only one script for this type of film (predictable), and it surprisingly turns out to be very different every time you guess what’s going to happen next. It was a great attempt at something different but just a bit too slow and no character development. It is worth the ending scene with the daughter! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/04/24 Full Review Audience Member My parents and I watched it together, and we thought it was a well done film with great actors and we all loved the plot twist. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/29/24 Full Review Kuiama G My main gripe is music is way too loud. So hard to hear the dialog. But not like I'm missing much there, script was pretty bad. Acting did most of the leg work here and fear it would have been a total flop without their skills. Great story premise, I wonder if the play told it better and it's just not translating to the screen. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/25/24 Full Review Kiersten C The acting was outstanding, minimal characters and each one nailed their role. Sadly, the writers didnt give them a lot to work with. The side characters were just that, fillers in scenes with huge potential for more story line. As for the main characters, powerful actors, trying to make the most of the plot given to them. The storyline is pretty cut and dry, and maybe our take away was to be just that. A raw story with no wild plot twists or outrageous climax, which can be powerful when well executed. In this stories case, it left us feeling no emotion even as the actors are giving their best. This is a case of massive potential with minimal plot, that sadly just landed as a dull watch.
