Pierre-Olivier P Bon film mais plusieurs choses le desservent : les personnages sont assez clichés et certaines chutes sont assez évidentes. Valérie Benguigui est excellente et son personnage est vraiment bien travaillé Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/29/23 Full Review Lisa D I love Dave but there was way more monologue than comedy in this special. Still interesting to hear about his life and what he's gone through but he could really use a bit more humility. Comes off as extremely arrogant at times. Confidence is one thing, but stay humble, my friend. You are not a god. 🤷‍♀️ Also, more comedy than drama please 👏 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/30/22 Full Review Audience Member I saw a German version of this called "How About Adolf", German title: "Der Vorname", For some reason, I can't find any reference to that film here or in the Wikipedia. I'm not sure whether that film is based on this one or vice versa. In any case, it was a pretty good film. It would make a good stage play with five major characters and one minor character who could perhaps be played by one of the others for the few minutes in which she appears. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Superbe! Les dialogues sont exquis, les personnages attachants. Semblable au Dîner de Cons, en plus dramatique, comme une pièce de théâtre. Bravo! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Is has all that I hate in typical French movies: all you hear is characters arguing and yelling at each other for most of the movie, sometimes over important things, often over trifles. Arguing, yelling, crying, yelling, being upset, arguing, yelling. Too bad, the general idea was interesting. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent movie, great dialogue and happy ending. I couldn't ask for anything more. Nick Schager The Dissolve Merely a one-note roundelay of angry name-calling. Rated: 2.5/5 Dec 17, 2013 Full Review Stephen Holden New York Times This is frivolous verbal jousting elevated to a blood sport by people who are much more resilient than they let on. Dec 12, 2013 Full Review Elizabeth Weitzman New York Daily News What starts as an entertaining expos of Parisian society eventually becomes exhausting. Rated: 3/5 Dec 12, 2013 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com The film manages to avoid feeling like a play on film, but its likeness to other, superior films dealing with similar familial unrest around the dinner table lends it a rather tired air. Rated: 2/5 Aug 29, 2019 Full Review Lynden Barber Limelight Adapting their own material, directors Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patelliere keep it all moving at breakneck speed while adding necessary moments of repose, and the actors ... give it their all. Jan 3, 2018 Full Review Jim Schembri 3AW A huge hit in France, the film's verbal thrust-and-parry is so fast you do spend too much time reading the flashing of subtitles than looking at the gesticulations and exaggerated expressions of the players. Bring on the Americanisation, please. Rated: 3/5 Aug 20, 2013 Full Review Read all reviews
