Audience Member Just saw it. Older movie and respectable screenplay. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member OK WWII actioner post WWII way post WWII Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member If you are a fan of the Sven Hassel books you should like this version of the second book Wheels of Terror Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member The 27th (Penal) Panzer Regiment is composed by expendable soldiers - sentenced criminals, court-martialed soldiers and political undesirables. People such as Alfred Kalb (David Patrick Kelly), "Legionnaire" (ex-member of the French Foreign Legion); Wolfgang Creutzfeldt (Jay O. Sanders), a giant of a man ironically named Tiny; barracks fixer and shrewd thief Joseph Porta (Bruce Davison); older sergeant Willie Beier (Keith Szarabajka), known as "Old Man"; Julius Heide, an ex-Waffen SS officer, Nazi fanatic, Barcelona Blom, a veteran of both sides of the Spanish Civil War, Gregor Martin, who was a removals man before the war, Chief Mechanic Wolf, and Staff Sergeant Hoffman, a non-commissioned officer. Col. Von Weisshagen (David Carradine) promises them freedom if they can destroy a targeted train on the Russian front. Will they survive the mission and get their freedom back?... "Wheels of Terror" aka "The Misfit Brigade" is based on the book by the same name written by the well known Danish-born writer Sven Hassel (19 April 1917 - Barcelona 21 September 2012) and it´s quite obvious that the budget was a bit wobbly and it has been shot cheaply in Yugoslavia so it seems, but they have at least tried to make something out of this. It´s like a poor mans version of "The Dirty Dozen" and "Kelly's Heros", but with more of a comic book structure and dubbing. I reckon David Carradine took the job for the money and so did Oliver Reed. The latter shows up briefly in the end and it makes no real sense to be honest. Maybe that was all the production could afford in terms of shooting scenes with Reed.. But, yes there are some standpoints in the movie, the tone is anti-war and anti-nazi, which is positive and a topic current as ever. "Wheels of Terror" is hardly a movie you would see again, but it has made me interested in reading Sven Hassel to see if I might like his books. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A 'Dirty Dozen' wannabe, but has little impact unlike the aforementioned. It does however have an endearing quality for a second world war movie, although this alone does not make it a good film. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member Fitting film adaption of Sven Hassel's novels since it's just as rubbish as his writings.
