Audience Member I'd seen the Joan Crawford remake of this film and didn't really care for it. Crawford in a comedy role is pretty hard for me to take. Ann Harding, Robert Montgomery and Myrna Loy seem much more suited to the story about a female author who falls in love with her publisher despite him having a lovely and charming wife. It's a likable enough of romantic comedy, but this version seemed overly talky and often time forgot to be witty in it's verbose script. Still, it's a likable enough of film and worth watching for the cast, if for nothing else. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member It all terribly civilized and Myrna and Alice Brady are good but the Joan Crawford/Greer Garson remake is better. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A very good drama, but very talky. Some of the movie is really boring, and you understand what the film is trying to say, but they keep telling you over and over. A nice ending, though. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Unfortunately dull. It could have been a lot cattier and nastier, especially since it's a pre-code film, but it's just so flat. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member good catty fun not on the level of say the original the women from mgm but still good in this pre-code talkie Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
