Growing up on the premises of a major psychiatric clinic is... different. For Joachim, clinic director Meyerhoff’s youngest son, the inmates are almost part of his family. They’re much nicer to him than his older brothers, after all, who drive him up the wall. His mother paints watercolors and longs for balmy Roman evenings rather than dreary German rain, while his father goes his own way, secretly, but not secretly enough. As he grows up, Joachim finds his first great love among his father’s patients, loses a brother, moves to the USA and finally returns to his extraordinary family. Based on the autobiographical novel by Joachim Meyerhoff.

Jared Mobarak Hey, Have You Seen ...? Heiss handles these tonal shifts very well with an excellent cast of young actors bolstered by commanding, emotionally complex turns from Striesow and especially Tonke. Rated: 7/10 Mar 3, 2023 Full Review Nikki Baughan Screen International Spanning three decades, Sonja Heiss’ third feature is an expansive yet intimate family portrait that effectively mines familiar domestic idiosyncrasies and intrigues. Alan L So 80s true and German. A tee age-eye view of the world. They managed to have all the 80s set objects right. Lights. Devices. Moods and responses. .... Not quite a comedy. More a drôle drama. Superb. And relatable Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/03/24 Full Review Read all reviews
