      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Where Is Kyra? rests on Michelle Pfeiffer's magnetically raw performance -- and lives up to it with a trenchant, hard-hitting story.

Alec B The ending is so depressingly inevitable, but that's the point. Pfeiffer is just so, so good here. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/05/24 Full Review Audience Member Pfeiffer's lost her mom, and her light in this movie. She's desperate for money and dresses as her mom to get $ and stay afloat. Not sure where the "hard hitting" drama comments come from - it's a flat plot. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Another Dosunmu masterpiece. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Lee L I think it's scary to know that this is REAL in today's society and sad to know some people shamelessly will see this as an option to help their financial situation, GREAT MOVIE! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/20 Full Review Audience Member Horror film to say the lease . Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Drama that slowly unfolds to a climatic ending. Excellent acting by Michelle Pfeiffer. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/20/18 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Moira MacDonald Seattle Times "Where is Kyra?" is a small story - there's much about its main character that we'll never know - and a terribly sad one. But it's a remarkable showcase for Pfeiffer, who'll break your heart in every scene. Rated: 3/4 Apr 25, 2018 Full Review Mick LaSalle San Francisco Chronicle Pfeiffer is good - she's always good, and raw, and effective - but watching her here is like seeing her under glass from a block away. Rated: 1/4 Apr 12, 2018 Full Review Justin Chang Los Angeles Times This woman may be lost to the world, but in Dosunmu's quietly shattering vision, she is also unexpectedly, triumphantly found. Apr 12, 2018 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com If one gets a sense of being consumed by the film's crushing tone and impeccable sense of ambience, Dosunmu and Picoult deliver a dynamite third act climax. Rated: 3.5/5 Oct 4, 2019 Full Review Filipe Freitas Always Good Movies Dosunmu seems self-satisfied in securing the gloomy spirits, never excelling in fighting lethargy. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 1, 2019 Full Review Louisa Moore Screen Zealots A compelling, nuanced character study of an unemployed woman who once lived a comfortable life and now finds herself teetering dangerously close to the poverty line.
