A decent watch for the genre, with suspense and a promising turn from rising star McIntosh. Go to Full Review

This rural 'home invasion' movie is gussied up with topical nods to the Scottish independence debate - but horror fans on both sides of the border are likely to vote no. Go to Full Review
Cleaver Patterson CineVue 04/03/2019

The underlying premise of this film is nothing new... however, the subject is given a topical twist, considering the possible tensions which may arise as the vote on Scottish independence draws near. Go to Full Review
Naila Scargill Exquisite Terror 02/28/2019
Pollyanna McIntosh singlehandedly carries the film, but all good work is undone with a crude final act, leading to a laughable climax. Go to Full Review

Hugo S 09/30/2024 A wealthy London couple decides to move to a remote farmhouse in the Scottish countryside. Their first night in the new rustic house becomes a fight for survival against a gang of locals wearing pig masks. "White Settlers" does not elevate or reinvent the home invasion subgenre, but it does a decent job in delivering on the basics. A low-budget horror movie with a notable performance from Pollyanna McIntosh (one of the female stars of "The Walking Dead"). See more Jeffrey P 09/08/2024 Devoid of everything, other than similarity to The Strangers and the lady with the bad haircut from The Walking Dead. See more Tony k 04/29/2024 Suspenseful, I was on edge for quite a bit of the film See more Michael C 10/14/2023 Plenty of suspense and some good acting but the story is rather confusing. Why are the men wearing pig masks terrorising the crap out of this young couple ?? And WHY is it called white settlers !! It's not a western !!! Don't waste your time watching this film. See more stevie S 08/08/2023 I feel an uncontrollable perverse bias towards this film; it left me feeling odd on the whole. I live in Scotland and am a native. I understand what the director was trying to do, however i'm in two minds whether he was trying to paint Scots as animalistic racists or just trying to raise awareness of our pride and aggressive protectiveness of our homeland. It was a good watch, the husband played a very snarky character at the beginning of the film which leads me to believe the director was aiming for the former.
