Jones is the co-founder and publisher of SOUL Magazine, a innovative Black publication that predated Rolling Stone and was boldly Black-centric, showcasing Black artists, Black voices, and Black excellence at a time when mainstream media all but ignored or exploited them. The film powerfully chronicles Jones’s extraordinary journey from being a extremely young mother and participant in the Watts Rebellion, to becoming a formidable media mogul and public relations powerhouse. This documentary is especially compelling in its unflinching honesty. Critics and audiences alike praise the film for restoring Jones to her rightful place in history.
