It results in a visually boring film, but the performances by Beverly Michaels, Richard Egan, Percy Helton, and Evelyn Scott make this under-appreciated film worthwhile. Take this as a character profile of a morally corrupt woman or just a sleazy-little noir either way its good pulpy fun. OK, it's not "Double Indemnity" but it had high tension, unexpected twists, a wonderfully gritty ambiance, several vivid characters including a spectacular femme fatale, good acting, etc. Billie Nash, "floozy … scarlet woman … wicked … trashy … hard boiled mean tramp ...."
