dave s Wigstock: The Movie wisely structures itself after the concert documentary Woodstock, featuring plenty of backstage interviews and interactions with residents of the area interspersed with some great live performances. The film documents the 1994 Wigstock Festival held in New York's East Village, where drag queens from across the country gathered to entertain a throng of thousands over the course of a day. While it may not be the most in-depth or insightful documentary ever made, it is contagiously fun and the exuberance of the performers and the fans can be felt throughout. It's a bit of a history lesson for the initiated and a great introduction to the drag scene for the uninitiated.
