The characters are well-written, the story is good, but predictable except for the little things. The people she meets during the journey was tricky. I always fell for the directing. The cinematography and editing are good, but not exceptional. The cast is fitting and the performances are strong, especially Reese Witherspoon. She clearly had great respect for her source material, and did it justice. The film was a sincere reflection on grief, addiction, divorce, and the hustle and bustle of modern life. It is an important reminder to take moments to breathe, and shines love for nature even when it hurts. I found myself wondering what exactly might lead someone to do the PCT on their own with minimal training and/or experience. I know that she had a lot of help on the trail and that in all honesty was a burden to others (according to some stories that came out after all of this). But logistics aside, this is a great story. It takes a lot of courage to do something this difficult, and it is pretty inspiring to do it alone. See more Read all reviews
