See more Hughe J @Hughe Jan 25 Wild Wild West was released in theatres in 1999 and stars Will Smith, Kevin Kline, and Salma Hayek with Barry Sonnenfeld directing. The movie is somehow based on the tv series of the same name but for me has no ties to that show, other than the main character's names. This is set after the conclusion of the American Civil War with Smith and Kline working for the federal government attempting to find a rogue confederate general. Supposedly he's kidnapping scientists to launch a new confederacy or something. There's a lot of terrible steampunk looking machines, horrendous jokes and action, Hayek wearing hot outfits, and a conclusion with a giant rampaging mechanical spider for some reason. The movie was a confusing and disjointed mess that was painful to watch and I would never recommend it to anyone, ever. See more Lewis M M @Kilesso Aug 6 I heard so much about this movie, never watched it was I was too young when it was out. Only heard about parodies of it being a flop. I watched it last night and I was laughing and smiling the whole time. I actually loved it! It's stylish, it's fast paced, it's very eccentric and goofy. It plays like a long Rick and Morty episode. The CGI are quite impressive for the 90s, the wardrobe is spectacular, the 1800s setting is perfect, the steampunk elements fit very well, the chemistry and humour even though sometimes cheesy fits with the deranged plot and style. I truly loved it! I even got sad when I saw there wasn't a sequel. We need more films like this, I'm tired of the overly serious superhero or spy stuff. This is not your typical Western. This film is a Sci-Fi, western, comedy. Kevin Kline is witty and fun to watch. Will Smith is pretty awesome in this movie. Wild wild West is definitely unpredictable. It's highly imaginative. The comedic scenes are beyond LOL. If you're a fan of Will Smith or Kevin Kline you will love this movie.
