Katie Walsh Los Angeles Times An uncommon and deeply sensitive take on this type of story. Sep 27, 2015 Full Review Daniel M. Gold New York Times The "Wildlike" landscapes are exhilarating, but when the film works, it's because of the interiors. Sep 24, 2015 Full Review Tom Keogh Seattle Times Green explores an atypical relationship between a solitary, 50-something man who finds that a vulnerable but determined kid has attached herself to him, no matter what, as he sets off into the wild. Rated: 3/4 Sep 24, 2015 Full Review Stephen Saito Moveable Fest Throw in two engaging performances from its leads‎ and it's a film worth talking about, especially considering how it's born out of a topic that so few do discuss. Nov 15, 2018 Full Review Indra Arriaga Anchorage Press Wildlike is a strong film that takes its time building the story and exploring the outdoors as well as the protagonists' internal conflict and subsequent character development. Ahsan A Super movie Super movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/19/24 Full Review kevin o ...a slow drama [ a good thing ] ,that works perfectly. Bruce is, as always, excellent. The ending was perfect as well. If you d like something different from the screaming pace of most films try this one. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/24 Full Review tom m okay, but what the description doesn't mention is that the girl's reason for being a runaway is that she is fleeing the sexual abuse of her uncle who is 'caring' for her while her mom is in rehab soon after the tragic death of her father. So the context is quite sad & disturbing. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review ronald h _Wildlike_ is a slow-moving, introspective film. The story is simple. A 14 year old girl, Mackenzie (Ella Purnell) is sent to Juneau, Alaska to stay with her uncle while her mother recuperates from something (drug rehab, illness.....We're not told). Mackenzie's father is dead. The uncle (Brian Geraghty) sexually abuses her. The scenes of abuse are not graphic, just uncomfortable. Mackenzie runs away at the first opportunity and starts to follow an older man named Bart (Bruce Greenwood) who is setting out to hike the Alaskan wilderness. He is annoyed at the invasion of his privacy, but little by little, he develops a kind of distanced friendship with the kid. He doesn't find out what she is running from until nearly the end of the film, and the conclusion is righteous. This film is all about characters. There are no Alaskan wilderness survival disasters (save for a brief encounter with a grizzly bear). Purnell pouts a lot, which I guess is to be expected, but I'm not sure if that passes for acting. Greenwood is better as her avuncular mentor. Did I mention that the film is slow moving? It's snail-like. If you like fast action, look elsewhere. If you like family melodrama, you may like this one, but it will still tax your patience. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was amazing. It has a very touching story line, an incredible back story, and a fantastic ending. Very moving, very emotional, and very well worth watching. I would highly recommend it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member If you didn't like this movie it's probably because you didn't understand it. That said, Bruce Greenwood's performance is flawless.
