Critics Consensus

A re-imagining that's as frantic as it is uneven, Witchboard conjures up an old-school horror romp with gonzo special effects, campy performances, and witchy atmosphere.

For as shaky as its foundation may be, ‘Witchboard' offers just enough madcap madness to entertain. Go to Full Review

A lot — too much, really — and the film lurches around from set piece to set piece, never managing to get pulses racing Go to Full Review

One of the finer dumb-as-a-rock films that I’ve seen this year. It could’ve been much better as a softcore adult movie on Skinemax. Go to Full Review

Adra M Sep 13 Okay, I gotta be real here, this movie just wasn’t it. After watching Together and Weapons earlier this week, this one honestly felt like a downgrade. The story never really hooked me, and the acting… yikes. Some of the performances felt so flat that it pulled me out of the experience. And don’t even get me started on the last act, it completely lost steam and ended in such an awkward, almost embarrassing way. It was like the movie didn’t know how to wrap itself up, and I left the theater more frustrated than scared. That said, I can’t say I hated it. I actually had fun with the gore, it delivered some nasty little moments that scratched that horror itch, and I’ll admit I was entertained by the bloody chaos whenever it popped up. I just wish the rest of the film matched that energy. Instead, it’s one of those movies you watch and think, “yeah, could’ve been way better, but at least it wasn’t a total waste.” See more Pamela Aug 20 I would of liked to just watched something like that from my couch. Not Theater pricing worthy See more Kelli Aug 20 This was a hysterically BAD movie. The storyline was bad. The acting was bad. The accents were atrocious. We live an hour away from Nola, we visit French Quartef often. They called the crawfish crayfish. NO!! The gumbo was greenNO. Bourbon was too clean. There was no Bourbon noise coming from the open window directly on Bourbon St. NO. If they had even done the tinniest research to get the Nola bits right, I would give it a little grace. But no, thats just lazy research and horrible writing. SAVE 2 hours of your life and skip this one. Just my 2. See more Blake Aug 20 Felt like a Disney movie 😭😭 See more Mr. Hollywood Aug 19 Nothing in this film didnt happen in a better way in other films. Remake or not, it wasnt fun and it just isnt needed. Skip it like its a day old lobster See more Juandi Aug 19 I can say that some effort was put into this film, though it seems they ran out of budget. It’s as cheesy & cliche as the trailer makes it seem. The lead female was not the strongest actor of the cast & it shows. I’m definitely not revisiting this or recommending it.
