Immediately after prominent Polish journalist Jerzy Michalowski (Zbigniew Zapasiewicz) has his latest appearance on national television to discuss his work, his life suddenly begins spiraling out of control. His wife leaves him for a younger colleague, the university class he teaches is canceled and many of his privileges are revoked by unnamed "authorities." Jerzy struggles to maintain his sanity in this trenchant send-up of life under communism.
