Woodshock's engages visually, but its half-baked premise is as underwhelming as it is unsatisfying.

Roxana Hadadi Pajiba Woodshock doesn't have a clear-cut narrative or a truly developed plot. But Kirsten Dunst's performance of sadness is often eerily reflective and unshakably gorgeous. May 21, 2018 Full Review Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times The directors of Woodshock are Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the sibling founders of the Rodarte brand. They clearly have an eye for fashion. As filmmakers, they clearly have an eye for fashion. Rated: 1/4 Sep 30, 2017 Full Review Nathalie Atkinson Globe and Mail A baffling and unnecessary third-act coup de théâtre abruptly crashes a comedown from the elaborate high. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 29, 2017 Full Review Marya E. Gates Cool People Have Feelings, Too. (Substack) Ccaptures a very specific coastal Northern California malaise fueled by the absolute insular isolation of this region and its illegal (at the time) but also incredibly lucrative pot growing industry. Sep 10, 2021 Full Review Scott Nye Battleship Pretension As the film gets druggier and more focused on Dunst, the more interesting it becomes. Jeffrey P Slow and weepy tale of grief in the first half, with unique style and setting, that doesn’t become much more than a drugged out continuation of that in the second half. Synopsis oversells it. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/25/24 Full Review laura b This movie's aesthetic is like a woodsy, late 90s/early 2000s American Eagle catalogue that got washed over with Instagram filters. That is the movie's main selling point. Complete lack of character development makes you unable to care for the well being of anyone pictured, except for the main character- who you mainly want to die so you don't have to watch the movie any longer. Also I thought Kirsten Dunst was a little old for this film. If they got a younger actress the lack of emotional maturity and depth of the character could have been more believable, and the outcome more devastating, possibly. I feel like the people who made this movie are nostalgic for older movies with Kirsten Dunst in them, and for the period(s) from the music they chose for the soundtrack, but mashing these things into this storyline they picked (or wrote?) simply did not work. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/21/24 Full Review Melissa L One of the worst movies I have ever seen. Slow and weird. Stay away from from this one! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/28/24 Full Review Nina E Woodshock is definitely a mood movie with a lot of surreal imagery and low beat dreary music in the background. It ponders deep ethical questions about playing God with lethal marijuana. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/24 Full Review Sam B Don't waste your time with this POS. I only gave it half a star because a Kirsten looks hot in one scene. Who wants to watch a movie where the person does a drug that makes them look totally depressed and they keep on doing it and getting more depressed. Drugs are supposed to be fun🤣 Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/24 Full Review Audience Member Ms Dunst Looked Alluring In Her Under-Dressed State. I Gather The Character Had A Mental Illness Following Being A Carer For Her Mum In The Same House As The Mother Died. Certainly Did An Artful Spliff Rolling Session, Swanning About The House In Miscontempt. The Male Characters Do Their Manly Wok-Stuff In A Wood-Mill & Drink At Pubs/Bars Afterwards, All The While This Theressa Girl Explores Ways To Cope Alone.
